Happy New Year !!Here's wishing you a Happy New Year and how time has passed, it is hard to believe we are now in 2012.

There is now a good bit of work to be done for your wedding.
If you are having a blessing in the Algarve either in a Church or in your chosen venue there is a process for the Church as there is Paperwork requirements. Simplicity Events will assist you with all aspects of your wedding paperwork requirements, we will also assist you with your mass booklets.

I even get excited by the whole aspects of the wedding I love the thrill of it and the excitement it causes. There is so much that I love about organising the weddings the guests who have never been to a Wedding Abroad, hearing their comments. The Bride and the Bridesmaids excitement with the whole Hair and Makeup process, and really how relaxed every one is on the day as it is nearly always a lovely sunny day and every one is even in the holiday mood.

I am looking forward to all my weddings in 2012.

We got married in the Algarve in July 2011. When we first thought about getting married in Portugal, we got in contact with Simplicity Events and met with Jacqui and we can honestly say that we never looked back. Jacqui was in touch with us for the full year up to the wedding day. She was so professional and patient with all our requests and last minute changes...nothing was a problem. She really took the stress out of planning a wedding and everything ran so smoothly right up to the day. We had the most special and memorable day of our lives.

Where to start... Jacqui had an amazing florist, the flowers were so beautiful, better than I could imagine. The hairdresser she arranged was fantastic.... the attention to detail was second to none! My sister in law did my make up so I didn't need a makeup artist but Jacqui arranged hair and makeup for my husband's family and they were fantastic! The venue....it can only be described as magical....a beautiful setting within an orange grove....we had amazing canopies, cocktails, champagne, meal and more...we were treated like VIPs for the day!! Jacqui was there on the day from start to finish and took care of everything (things we didn’ty even think of!) with ease. The day ran so smoothly, we did not have to worry about one thing and we were able to enjoy every second!

Jacqui, all of our guests have commented on how fantastic you were... it was not until the following day, did we realise in fact how much work you put into the day. We had 150 guests at our wedding and this was not a problem for you. You were so friendly, organised and efficient, and as a result we were entirely stress free and had the most fantastic wedding day! If only we could do it all over again :-)

We just wanted to say thank you so much, we really could not have done it without you and really appreciate all the work you put in to make our day so special!! We would highly recommend Simplicity Events. In fact, we have already passed your details to others that have heard all about our wedding!! Should a Bride Speak? To Speak or not to Speak
Traditionally it was only ever the Father of the Bride, the Best Man and the Groom who spoke at the reception, but these days many more of the wedding party are getting involved in the speeches! The bride’s speech, while still relatively new in the world of wedding speeches, is a lovely addition to any reception. It’s a lovely chance for you to express all the love, happiness and excitement you’re feeling on this important day, and to share those feelings with your guests.

The best part is that there is no traditional way to do a bride’s speech. So while the Father of the Bride is meant to reminisce about his darling daughter, and the Best Man is meant to mock the groom, the sky is the limit for the Bride! You can give thanks to important people in your life, or share funny, sweet or meaningful stories… whatever you like.

So go on you make that speech.....

Apparently.... And Did you know that the average cost of a wedding in Ireland is €22,200 and the average number of guests is 114? That is a high price, .............. I could not believe what I had read, though this makes it better for Simplicity Events Algarve Weddings, mind you I have to say that I do have Brides and Grooms who contact me and say that there are really good deals in Ireland at the moment, though I am sorry I would have to disagree when I read this article, I do think that there are still alot of Hidden prices outside of these good deals.
Another article I read recently quoted that they had looked at the Hotels wedding package , and you have to pay the hotel for the usage of the Wedding Knife to cut the cake??? I ask is this true......
What I would suggest get married in the Algarve . :-) Honestly it is cheaper!!!

We got married in the Algarve in June 2011. From the onset Jacqui was on hand to offer her advice and ideas for our wedding. Her knowledge and professionalism was evident from the start and this carried through into our wedding day. Looking back over the past year I now realise I could not have organised our wedding without Jacqui’s help. As she was always only an email or phone call away it really took the pressure off me especially in the crucial weeks running up to the wedding. Having everything arranged for us meant we were able to relax and enjoy the day. Simplicity Events exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend their services to anyone.

Hi Jacqui how are you. I hope you are well, what can I say from the moment we met you in the algarve (2010) you were more than helpful by taking us to different venues and showing us them all. I want to thank all the Brides and Grooms who contacted Simplicity Events for such a great year working with you all.

I loved every minute of the wedding planning with my Brides, (well normally it is the Brides I work with, though a few exceptions of Grooms)

I normally feel sad at this time as the weddings are all finished and I will miss not having the same contact with the Bride and Grooms, though I have to thank the fact that I do have a few that still contact me, also I have found out that three who keep me in contact have all had new addiditions to the Family . Flowers and their meanings

Ancient brides carried herbs instead of flowers in their bouquets to cast off evil spirits. A bride carried sage for wisdom, dill for lust and rosemary for remembrance. Rosemary would also ensure faithfulness. Brides would also carry marigolds that had been dipped in rose water. They would later eat them for their powers as an aphrodisiac.

Later flowers replaced herbs. Orange blossoms stood for happiness and fertility, ivy stood for fidelity, lilies for purity. Wheat was also used to symbolize fertility. Most often the flowers were dried and hung in the bride's new home.

Modern brides tend to carry flowers based on color and personal preference. Some still carry flowers based on their meanings. If you would like to incorporate a little more symbolism into your bouquets, here are some widely accepted flowers and their meanings.

Most couple will prepare some music for the wedding. They will consider the music for both the ceremony and the reception. If you would like to make your wedding more perfect, you should also plan the wedding music in advance.

When the bride is walking down the aisle, one of the most popular music to be play is probably "Here comes the bride". Of course this is only a popular choice. It does not mean that you have to follow what others usually do. In fact, the wedding music can be any kind of music you feel appropriate. As a matter of fact, some couples even choose to play rock music in the big day!

Although there is virtually no limit for you to choose the music, you should consider the issue of etiquette. Traditionally, music is only allowed at the beginning of the ceremony. It has to be a total silence when exchanging the vow. This is not difficult to understand since wedding should be something serious at the end of the day. Of course you may choose to play the music again when the guests leave the venue. The music can also act as a guide for the guests to go to the reception.

When your wedding day arrives, regardless of what colour or length your hair normally is, you will want to make it look like it’s never looked before. Deciding on which style you really want may take more planning than you think.

You may want to have a style that involves having longer hair than you have now, or maybe shorter, or maybe you want a tiara or other decoration. Maybe you fancy a different colour but are not sure which. All of these need careful consideration and preparation - leave dying your hair to the night before and you had better be prepared for getting married with orange hair!

For those brides-to-be that have an all time favourite hairstyle that they have already worn a few times before you will have more time to concentrate on what other accessories you will wear on your hair.

Finding the Perfect Hairstyle
Browse through as many bridal magazines as you can looking at all the hairstyles.
Ask close friends and family members, as well as your hairdresser, which style may suit you.
Your hairstyle should compliment your wedding dress, for example swept up hairstyles suit a backless dress whilst romantic ringlets or cascading loose curls look wonderful on a princess ball gown.
Visit the hairdresser up to six months before your special day for any treatments such as perms, cuts and colouring.
Hair grows about half an inch a month so start growing as soon as you have decided if your chosen hairstyle is to be for long hair. It's always easier to have shorter hair when it is long, than longer hair when it is short!
When booking a stylist try and get one that comes with a recommendation from friends and previous brides.
Take into consideration the texture of your hair before fully deciding on the style. What looks great in a magazine or somebody else may not look as good on you!
Choose a style that you are going to feel comfortable in. If you don’t like hair in your face and you are always pushing it away then go for a style that is tied away, keeping it tidy all day, yet at the same time elegant and classy.

Beauty tips for your Wedding Day

Our skin needs nourishment just as our body does and although its easy to keep the body 'fuelled' we must also remember to maintain our skin in keeping the plumpness and youthfullness we all crave!

Get into the habit of following a skincare routine, one which will last you well beyond the lead up to your wedding day. Even if you are born with perfect skin, it still needs help along the way.

Following a daily routine of skin care is simple and can be done in three easy steps. Getting into the practise of cleansing, toning and moisturising will benefit your skin for many years, as well as helping you continue to feel good about yourself.

12 months to go
Give up the junk food and replace it with fresh fruit, salads and vegetables, as this will help boost your immune system.
Start drinking the recommended daily 1.5 to 2 litres of water if you don’t do so already, as its important to keep your skin hydrated.
Start doing some exercise so that you look and feel great on the wedding day.

6 months to go
Try to make sure you start to get plenty of sleep, aim for eight hours each night, otherwise you will look tried in your wedding photographs.
If you don’t do so already start to exfoliate once or twice a week. If you are someone who has sensitive skin don’t worry there are a whole range of products available, and if you don’t like the look of them you can always make your own.
Cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day.
Use whitening toothpaste which can help to remove any unsightly stains allowing you to smile with confidence.

3 months to go
Go and have your nails done. If you bite your nails and are conscious about it, then you can always have false nails.
Moisturise your hands regularly so that they don’t dry out.
Have your eyebrows done. If you have sensitive skin you might ask if you can have them threaded rather than waxed.
The night before
Have a soak in the tub with some aromatherapy oils, as they will help you sleep

Your wedding day is probably the one day that has dominated your dreams since you were little. You want it to be perfect, and there are ways to assure that everything goes off without a hitch. However, there are some things associated with planning a wedding that can give you some headaches. Here are some pitfalls to avoid:
1: Don’t Plan A Wedding For Everyone Else!
This is your day. Repeat that statement over and over until you believe it. Everyone and their brother will probably be telling you what you “should” and “should not” do, but ultimately the only two people who matter in the planning are the bride and groom. Yes, you want to bring everyone together for a fun evening, but you have to have fun, too. Don’t worry about living up to anyone’s expectations but your own.
2: Don’t Invite People You Don’t Want There - Seriously!
Your wedding is a budgeted affair, and to remain within that budget you need to settle on a guest list. Yes, your cousin Joe may want you to invite your third cousin twice removed from Russia that you have never met, but that does not mean you have to. You want to be surrounded on your wedding day by people you know and love, so make sure those are the people on your guest list.
3: Don’t Fret About The Things That Go Wrong...
Any good event planner will tell you that not everything goes right all the time. Yes, there are those few people in the world that have the perfect wedding day where not one thing goes wrong, but in the real world “stuff happens.” Keep your sense of humor and a flexible attitude on for the day. See the good side of things, even in the face of disaster. It does help to either hire a planner or ask someone to help you with your special day by coordinating schedules and vendors. This way you can focus on what is really important – vowing to love and be with your spouse forever.
4: Don’t Forget To Eat (NB)
There is nothing worse than a drunk or cranky bride. If you are drinking at your wedding, you need to make sure you eat so that you do not end up drunk or sick. Eat a little before the ceremony, too. This way you can avoid getting dizzy or fainting. Jitters and stage fright are common, and eating a little can help keep you focused.
5: Don’t Let People Drink Too Much (Not Easy...)
An open bar is a nice thing at a wedding, but give your bartenders free reign to cut people off. Nothing puts a damper on a wedding day like alcohol-induced drama. Drunk people get in fights, say embarrassing things, and even get in traumatic car accidents. If you see someone is drunk, arrange for someone else to give him or her a ride home.
6: Don’t Forget To Send Thank You Notes
When you receive a gift from a shower or the wedding, you should send out Thank You notes ASAP after the wedding day. The general guideline is 5 weeks. Make sure the notes are simple but personal.
7: Don’t Forget To Confirm With All Your Vendors ( Planner would organise this for you).
In the final days before the wedding, it is a good idea to call all the vendors and people involved to make sure they know when and where they are supposed to be on your special day. This allows you to make arrangements if one of them backs out of your arrangement.
8: Don’t Forget Backup Plans
Remember No 3 about worrying if things go wrong? Well one way to minimize the number of “bad” things than can happen is to plan for things to go wrong. For instance, let’s say your photographer doesn't show up? Well, maybe you can purchase a number of disposable cameras. You may not have all the professional photos, but you will have a lot of candid ones of your special day.
9: Don’t Be Late
Being on time is important for a number of reasons. First, some of your vendors may only be hired for a certain amount of time, and it could cost you a lot to put them behind schedule. Also, it is rude to keep your guests waiting. Yes, it is your day, but there is no reason to make others miserable in hot weather.
10: Obvious I Know But - Don’t Forget To Enjoy It All!
After all the planning, the day is yours. Don’t forget to enjoy it :)

It's taken hours of travel, a fortune in petrol, rows, tears, weight gain/loss but finally you have "The Dress"!
No matter how fabulous your dress is you're going to need a little jewellery & as we all know diamonds are a girls best friend. I have yet to hear any woman deny this....
So, what to wear. If you dress is already pretty 'bling' or heavily beaded, don't go over the top with your jewellery as it will distract from your dress as the eye won't know where to look or what to focus on - less is more!
If your dress is elegantly simply, you can wear all the bling you can afford :) Here's some tips to get the ball rolling....
1. Wait to shop for your jewellery until after you've purchased your wedding dress, veil, and or headpiece.
2. If you're wearing a headpiece, skip the necklace.
3. Wear a top with the same neckline as your wedding dress while trying on necklaces. You'll get a better sense of the overall look of the piece.
4. Something borrowed, something blue.... If you can't afford or don't have diamonds, borrow them or you could wear a sapphire bracelet & earrings as your traditional 'something blue.'
5. Wear a piece of jewellery from your Mum's collection for that sentimental touch.
6. Personalise your wedding or engagement ring by engraving your wedding date or initials on the inside of the band.
7. Choose matching gems otherwise THEY WILL CLASH....
8. PLEASE don't wear a watch. I don't care how expensive it is - NOT on your wedding day....
Guess what someone told me you had to wear one, looking back I don't know why??????

Decide upon a wedding date.
Decide on your budget.
If you are getting married in church you will need to agree on the arrangements with your the priest.
You would need to get married in a register office, you will need to give notice to the Registrar. 6 months is the time frame.

Paperwork for the ceremony abroad should start now.

Decide on the number of guests and make a list
Book the Wedding Reception (once decided with Wedding Planner)

Book Music, band or DJ for the wedding reception
Book the Magician or other wedding entertainment
Book the Caterer (if in an other venue other than hotel)

Book the Photographer and Videographer
Book the Wedding Transport
Book the Flowers

Book theHoneymoon and apply for a new passport (i.e. The bride may wish to travel under her married name, but be prepared to be unable to travel until your wedding date, as your old passport will be invalid).
Order theWedding Cake

Book an over night stay in a hotel room/bridal suit. (Most hotels give you first night free)
Start looking for your Wedding Dress. Decide whether you want it handmade, a designer or ‘off the peg’ dress.
Decide in your Bridesmaids and Ushers
Decide on your Best Man.
Confirm all bookings in with wedding planner.

5 Months before
Attend initial fitting for the wedding dress
Choose the brides weddingShoes and accessories
Choose the wedding attire for the Groom, best man, bridesmaids, fathers, mothers and ushers
Choose the Brides and Grooms wedding rings
Order your wedding favours.
Notify your bank, Building Society and relevant authorities that you intend on Changing Names and as of what date it will take affect. (If you wish to do so)
Order the wedding Invitations and other stationery.
Take out wedding Insurance, (advisable sometimes).

Send out your wedding Invitations, this gives guest enough time for their flights and accomodation and can work out cheaper if they give a good amount of notice.

4 Months before
Discuss the seating plan with the Wedding Planner.

Arrange to see Hairdresser or Barber about what hairstyle you want on your big day. Brides should take along a picture of the dress and veil or headdress and other accessories to help the hairdresser create a hairstyle that will compliment and finish off the look
Go to a beauty salon and have a Makeover (great treat for Bride and Bridesmaids)

Book a Beautician for your wedding day, if required as some of the Family and Friends might required when in Portugal.

3 Months before

Most Paperwork should be in order now.
Decide upon your wedding list, and make it available to all your wedding guests.
An advice guest to book any overnight accommodation now while there is still availability.
Confirm your ceremony details with either the registrar or the minister.
Decide upon your chosen wedding music or hymns.
Arrange for the ‘Order of Service’ sheets to be printed.
Buy gifts for the best man, ushers and bridesmaids.
Arrange to have any vaccinations done, if required.
Start to plan your hen and stag parties.

1 month before
Arrange for a final fitting of your wedding dress.
Reconfirm the wedding arrangements with the reception venue.
Reconfirm the wedding arrangements with the florist.
Reconfirm the wedding arrangements with the photographer and videographer
Reconfirm the wedding arrangements with the company supplying the wedding transport.

Reconfirm all your entertainment.
Have the hen and stag night.
Finalise the seating plan with the Wedding Planner.
Arrange a date for a wedding rehearsal, if required.
Send out thank you cards to all guests who have responded to your invitation.
Telephone any guests who have not yet responded to your invitation.
Organise a date when you can pick up you’re wedding party outfits.
Write the wedding speech.

7 Days before
Have the wedding rehearsal. (Can be arrange a couple of days on your arrival in Portugal)
Wear-in your wedding shoes. Its will give brides who are not used to walking in high heels a chance to practice.
Organise with a close friend to have an emergency wedding kit, just for the bride, containing makeup and a repair kit for the wedding dress, so you can be ready for any minor hiccups through the day. (A must!)
Give your Mass booklet sheets to the minister.
Give the rings to the best man.
Give the best man a list of all the wedding services involved in your wedding day, in case they need to be contacted.

The Day before
Have the day off.
Brides and grooms go and have your nails manicured.
Grooms go and have your hair tidy up around the back and sides.
Whilst grooms are out have a proper shave at the barbers shop.
Spend the rest of the day relaxing.
Try and get an early night.
The Day of the Wedding

Assuming the bride and groom are having a 2pm wedding the bride’s timetable should running like this:

Get up and have a relaxing shower or bath.

Have a good breakfast. Don’t have anything too out of the ordinary otherwise you may end up with an upset stomach.

Polish your nails.

Have your hair styled by a hairdresser. I can arrange to get them to come to you, as it will be one less worry for you on the day.

Best man arrives to collect the luggage/ greeting cards/ if required.

The bridesmaids and pageboys arrive.

Have your makeover.

The bride and bridesmaids get dressed.

The photographer arrives, and takes the rearranged photographs..

.The first wedding car will take the mother and the bridesmaids to the church.

The second wedding car will take the bride and her father to the church. Where the bridesmaids will meet them.

The bride and her father will stand at the entrance of the church, with the bridesmaids lined up behind you. The verge will greet you.
